So far, I am loving it. My math was a bit off because I didnt realize that years up to 1980 were quarterly released, The first couple of years are pretty funny looking (think low budget mail order catalog) The ads and interviews are priceless. Karaoke Sertanejo Gratis there. The Premier, Ludwig, Pearl, Tama, Paiste, Slingerland, Zildjian, etc ads are classic.
I had a MD subscription from 1997 to 2010, and I saved just about every issue. I've moved them with me several times but I'm preparing to move. From the Modern Drummer digital archive, here are some excerpts from a 1978 interview with Tony Williams. I've edited out the large hunks of it where they discuss.
There is a lot of transcriptions of songs and technique exercises. I just finished a 1979 overview of Phil Collins and an interview with Jeff Porcaro from 83. The digital archive isn't cheap per say $140 for 27 years, but I am finding it worth every penny thus far.
